Merchant Vessel

There are many different categories of merchant vessels, all varying in size and type. Nonetheless, they all have in common the requirement of a well-functioning galley serving wholesome foods to crew members who often serve long shifts.

On board a merchant vessel the storage space for its cargo is often prioritized while other accommodations are limited, not to mention the available space to keep food scraps. A disposer that finely ground the food waste before it is released into the sea is mostly often fully adequate to simplify life onboard.

By using a food waste disposer the ship also fulfills the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) regulation of discharging food waste while en route and not less than 12 nautical miles from land if outside special areas and not less than 3 nautical miles from land if inside special areas. The ground food waste must be capable of passing through a screen with openings no greater than 25mm.

For merchant vessels that however wish to temporarily store the food waste in a tank while within special areas or at port, we are able to offer solutions for this as well.
